Three Kingdoms story

Chengdu was the capital of the Shu-han State during the Three Kingdoms period. Eyed as the orthordox successor of the Han Dynasty, the Shu-han State wins sympathy from people of later generations and its emperor Liu Bei and Prime Minister Zhu Geliang, among other figures, enjoy high popularity all over the world. Built from 223AD, Wuhou Shrine is the most famous memorial site for Three Kingdoms heroes as well as the most significant museum of the culture of the Three Kingdoms Period (221-280).

Dujiangyan irrigation system

UNESCO world natural and cultural heritage site

Built in 256 BC, the Dujiangyan irrigation system is one of the world's oldest irrigation systems without a dam and is still used for practical purposes. It provides water resources for more than 30 counties and cities in Sichuan Province.

Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

Located in the northeast suburb of Chengdu, it is the largest group of artificially-bred captive giant pandas of the world and the only metropolitan city in the world that is close to the giant panda habitats. By the end of October 2017, the panda population had expanded to 184.
